The St. Clair County Health Department has issued an imminent danger order prohibiting the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.

The order includes all synthetic cannabinoids, all substances known as synthetic marijuana, including Spice and K2, and all chemicals in the cathinone family of stimulants and substances known as Bath Salts, White Rush and Vanilla Sky.

Jennifer Michaluk, health department spokeswoman, said if stores continue to sell the substances, officials will petition the court to obtain a cease-and-desist order.

St. Clair County is following what several other communities in the region are doing to rid themselves of the substances after high profile violent attacks in the metro Detroit area where K2 or Spice are believed to have been factors.
